jQuery Syntax

jQuery basically allows you to select and manipulate HTML elements. So, jQuery Syntax is made up of selecting HTML elements and performing some action on the elements. The Selector and Action is combined by using dot (.) sign.

Basic syntax is: $(selector).action()

  • A $ sign to define/access jQuery
  • A (selector) to “query (or find)” HTML elements
  • A jQuery action() to be performed on the element(s)
  • Examples: $("p").hide() – hides all <p> elements.
