SEO Types: White Hat vs Black Hat

SEO techniques are classified into two main categories, depending upon how you follow the guidelines of a search engine.

  1. White Hat SEO
  2. Black Hat SEO

White Hat SEO

In Search Engine Optimization (SEO), white hat SEO technique follows strategies, techniques, and guidelines provided by different search engines. This method has primary focuses on users instead of search engines. Secondly, it follows SEO best practises so that website is optimized for search engines.

Black Hat SEO

This is an SEO technique focus only on search engines and not a human audience, and usually does not obey search engines guidelines. This type of SEO includes too much on keywords (called keyword stuffing) to rank higher on search engines.

This also involves preparing different content for search engines and users to rank higher with not so useful content. This approach may provide you good results in the short term but in the long term, it may bring you penalty by search engines.

Therefore, you must avoid Blank Hat SEO techniques and follow on White HAT SEO for your websites.

SEO Types: On-Page vs Off-Page

Depending on, how you can optimize your website and how you can make use of another website to help you rank better in google, is called On-Page or Off-Page SEO.

On-Page SEO:

On-Page SEO focus on how you can optimize your own website for search engines. This involves various SEO practises such as using proper SEO meta tags, optimizing content, optimizing links and images, using SEO friendly URLs, adding Sitemap & Robots, and using SEO friend structured data markup.

On-Page SEO:

Off-Page SEO focus on what other websites tell about your website. This involves working outside of your website in the form of link building, article submission or business listing etc.
