WordPress Dashboard Screen
In this tutorial, we will provide an overview of the WordPress Dashboard Screen. It is also known as WordPress Admin Panel and Backend.
WordPress dashboard enables you to control the content of your website. It provides access to various content management tools inside the dashboard area. Once you get familiar with the dashboard, you will find it easy to manage your website even if you are just a beginner.
Login into WordPress Dashboard:
You can log in to the WordPress dashboard area using the username & password used during WordPress installation. You can find login page by typing your website URL along with “/wp-admin“. For example, “www.your-site.com/wp-admin”
Once you logged-in, you get into the dashboard which says, “Welcome to WordPress”. This is a Welcome widget in the WordPress dashboard home section. This welcome screen provides you with some quick links to get you started.
WordPress Dashboard Screen:
The WordPress Dashboard Screen page displays an overview of the current website. It shows a summary of what’s happening on your blog and it presents you some quick tools such as for creating a quick draft and working with recent comments.
In WordPress, often these content blocks are called Widgets. WordPress dashboard home mainly consists of the following widgets and sections.
The Welcome widget displays some of the most common WordPress task links.
The “At a Glance” widget provides a summary of your website’s content such as the number of Posts, Pages, and Comments. They are displayed in the form of a link so that you go to the specific area just by clicking on these links.
This widget is used to display recently published posts, upcoming scheduled posts, and the most recent comments on your website. You can approve, reply and un-approve comments here.
The Quick Draft widget is used to quickly write some new content. You can enter post title, upload/insert media, add content, add tags. Thereafter, it can be published or saved as a rough draft for future posting.
WordPress News widget provides a list of the latest news from the official WordPress blogs & other related websites. It also lists events, announcements, meet-up related to WordPress.
