    if number % 2 == 0:
        print(number, "is even")
    else:
        print(number, "is odd")

Output:

How it works

• 4 % 2 is 0, so 4 is even.
• 7 % 2 is 1, so the else part runs and 7 is odd.
• Negative numbers also work, because -3 % 2 is 1 in Python.
