How to install WordPress?
The classic way is the famous 5 minute install:
- Download WordPress from wordpress.org and unzip it.
- Put the files in the web folder of your server (
public_htmlorhtdocs). - Create an empty MySQL or MariaDB database and a user.
- Open the site address in the browser, and enter the database details.
- Enter the site title, admin username, password and email.
- Click Install WordPress and log in at
/wp-admin.
With WP-CLI, the same install needs four commands:
wp core download
wp config create --dbname=mysite --dbuser=root --dbpass=secret
wp db create
wp core install --url=http://localhost --title="My Site" --admin_user=admin --admin_password=Strong#Pass1 --admin_email=you@example.com
Details are in WordPress Installation. Always use a strong admin password.
